Colonel prof. Ing. Bohuslav Přikryl, PhD has been in University od Defence rector office since 1 August 2012. Elected candidate rector by the University Academic Senate in March the same year he was appointed by the Czech Republic president in mid-June. Colonel Bohuslav Přikryl has been appointed University of Defence rector for the period of 1 August 2012 till 31 July 2016.
The ceremony of passing the University of Defence rector position took already place on 27 July 2012 as a part of the graduation ceremony parade. Colonel Bohuslav Přikryl as the new rector and commandant of the University of Defence accepted unit colours from Deputy Minister of Defence for personnel Michael Hrbata’s hands on that Friday.
Retired brigadier general Rudolf Urban whose second period in the ultimate academic office expired on 31 July 2012 had used the graduation ceremony saying: "I opened my address with a simile of a finish line our graduates had crossed. In fact, the same but in different context applies to me myself too. I am speaking from this place at this notable moment for the last time as the University of Defence rector. Therefore, this wide forum is a nice opportunity for saying my public thanks to all of you, all school staff members, either officers, students or civilian, to the higher command representatives at the Ministry of Defence or General Staff, to the representatives of public administration, partner organisations, educational institutions and to our international friends for your assistance and support offered during my two periods in office that I could gratefully accept."
"It was a pleasure to feel the honour of the rector office. I am convinced that my successor colonel Bohuslav Přikryl will lead our military university to maintain all the positive aspects in its effort to further improve its credit of an efficient and advanced educational and research institution and state university being an organic part of Czech national defence as well as university systems" underlined Rudolf Urban.
Later in the , Deputy Minister of Defence for personnel Michael Hrbata and retired brigadier general Rudolf Urban and colonel Bohuslav Přikryl signed a document of handing over the University of Defence command.
Colonel Bohuslav Přikryl as the new rector and commandant intends to profile the University of Defence to a strongly militarily shaped state university-type school. He considers the Czech military forces the key strategic partner as well as the guarantor of its essential pillars that are education, scientific research, innovations and expertise. &I will strive so that the Czech military forces who are the prime University of Defence output customer be in reality convinced of meeting the requests as stipulated" said colonel Přikryl.
